We have just finished 2 x 7 days selfguided walks arranged by Javier Arrue - the Enchanted villages route and the Camino Norte coastal route. Both were excellent and far exceeded our expectations. From the first contact with Javier throughout both holidays he was extremely friendly, caring and super organised. He managed to book the perfect holiday with short notice in the peak season! The walks were spectacular and interesting and we loved that he had planned them carefully so they went through all the must-see areas and villages. The accomodation was overall lovely with friendly hosts and the food was fantastic. Javier even booked great restaurants for us on nights without dinner included. They were selfguided tours, but we felt Javier was with us all the way - he kept in touch everyday, gave us recommandations along the way and was always available for questions. We can highly recommend booking with Walking North Spain. Thanks, Javier, and we hope to meet you again on another tour!

Javier is a great hiking guide who took our group of 14 on a fabulous trip two week adventure in the Picos de Europa and Rioja wine region. He made all our arrangements. Our hotels were charming. All meals were outstanding-especially the dinners. Most nights he preordered the appetizers and we so enjoyed the assortments of fresh, local delicacies. The wines were great too! Our transportation was comfortable and dependable. And finally, our hikes were varied and beautiful.
Javier was flexible and was always able to accommodate changes. While hiking he really watched out for our safety and selected trails that suited our abilities. Javier has great knowledge of the region and shows pride in its culture and beauty. Although our trip focused on hiking, he took us to visit museums, monasteries, vineyards, cheese making caves and adorable villages. Besides being a great guide, Javier is funny, interesting and caring.

Myself and 3 friends recently did a Pyrenees trip with Javier. What a fabulous experience. Javier adapted our hikes to fit with our fitness levels after our first hike and his knowledge of the mountains having hiked them since his youth was incredible. His passion and knowledge of Basque culture and history made our trip an educational experience. Always attentive to out needs and the perfect host he paid attention to every detail bringing us to the best places to sample wonderful basque cuisine. Our week glided by wonderfully providing us with an experience for all our senses. A week to remember for sure

3 girlfriends and I recently enjoyed a week of guided trekking with Javier in the Western Pyrenees. He is an incredible host with a palpable passion for his Basque heritage, who not only guided us through some breathtaking mountain terrain, but also taught us so much about the local history, culture, food and wine, language, geography, flora and fauna. Javier was extremely accommodating to our varying levels of physical endurance, and arranged for very comfortable and authentic hotel and restaurant experiences during our stays in the mountains. Highly recommend Walking North Spain for the ultimate mountain getaway!

We have just completed the self-guided Camino de Santiago hiking trip organised through Walking North Spain. We were given detailed directions, which in a few places deviated slightly from the traditional Camino routes. The accommodation was always of a good standard with a packed lunch provided each day. The scenery was varied and often spectacular. Just as impressive was the organisation, personal support and advice given by Javier who kept in contact with us on a daily basis. If you are considering visiting this area on a hiking trip I can highly recommend Walking North Spain.
