It was my first time climbing 12k feet, and learned how altitude sickness feels in a hard way. I am glad that I have taken this 360 degree photo which I can appreciate without suffering the sickness. I hope you will enjoy it too

It's a tough climb to do in the afternoon, about 7miles from the valley floor (north bound) to a mile or so before the summit where we camped. Did the final mile the next morning. Absolutely worth it. Another stunning pass crossing we'll remember for a long time. Trail is well laid out and didn't present any challenges.

Glen Pass is tough no joke, but worth traversing it whether you're coming from or going to Rae Lakes. Found both sides of the pass both very different and very enjoyable

Amazingly beautiful but treacherous pass, especially in a high snow year (like 2019 was). We followed footprints in the snow up that unfortunately took us above where the actual pass crossed, and we had to scoot down some loose rock on our butts just to get to where the descent was. Enjoy the view!

A spectacular pass in Kings Canyon National Park on the John Muir Trail / Pacific Crest Trail. Stunning views north towards the Rae Lakes Basin and south towards Mount Bago. Strenuous ascent from either direction.

Maybe because this was supposed to be one of the more challenging and technical passes along the PCT that I got myself all worked up over it but I actually found it to be relatively easy and straightforward. Other Hikers I was with found this pass more difficult and sketchier then they expected. I think the difference in opinions comes mostly from mental preparedness and respecting Mother Nature. Honestly non of these passes in the Sierra’s should be taken lightly regardless of what others say or think. Glen pass does have an intimidation factor looking up at it I will give it that. If you remain focused and stay determined while having and using the proper gear along with hitting it early to avoid post-holing like we did then I don’t think it’s worth getting yourself worked up over just as long as you still respect the dangers your faced with. At the top you are rewarded with a Beautiful view of Rae lakes below.
